Mustapha Nyabally – President
Mustapha is seasoned public service administrator with over 18 years working experience. He also has social service work experience in youth advocacy and community development. Mustapha is the first President and head of the executive team of the Saruja foundation.[expand title=”read more“]
He works as a Principal Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs of the Gambia. Prior to this position, he was a principal personnel officer at the Personal Management Office (PMO), the central coordinating office for all personnel issues in the Gambia Civil Service.
He has also served as the Secretary Gambia Library and Information Services Association, Secretary Association for the Development of Saruja and Treasurer of the History Society, University of The Gambia.
Mustapha holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Ghana in addition to BA Degree History and English Language ( University of The Gambia).. [/expand]
Ndey Saidy – Resource Mobilization Coordinator
Ndey is a very industrious lady who inspires and influences many women and youths in the Saruja community. Addition to farming, Ndey has worked on many community projects where she mobilizes women and resources. Her role current role in the Foundation is to mobilize resources including funding. She also heads the social and resource mobilization committee. The committee raises awareness, organize income generating events and provide guidance and support to the Executive Committee in developing a robust fundraising strategy. [/expand]
Ansumana Konateh – Secretary General
Ansumana is an experienced expert in agriculture and community services. With over 30 years working experience, Ansumana works with the Department of Agriculture. He serves as the secretary general of the foundation responsible for all the correspondence of the foundation and also acts as the head, in the absence of the president. [expand title=”read more“]
Ansumana has also worked on a number of social and community projects including national elections, national population census, and village community activities. His work with multiple agricultural projects across the country has offered him an extensive experience in resource mobilization, monitoring, and report writing skills.
In addition to various professional training, Ansumana holds bachelors of science degree in Agriculture from the University of the Gambia. [/expand]
Yankuba Sanneh – Treasurer
Yankuba is a trained Botanist who specialized in Seed Science and Technology. He is very passionate about social and community services. He mobilizes youths for many community works and sport. Yankuba manages and reports the financial activities of the foundation. [expand title=”read more“]
He has served as an executive and member of many professional associations in the Gambia. He is an active member of the Gambia Agricultural Worker’s Association. He previously served as the Secretary in NARI staff Association and Treasurer of the Association for the Development of Saruja Village.
With over 17 years experience in Agriculture, Yankuba works as a Senior Seeds Officer at the National Research Institute (NARI). He holds a Master’s degree in Seeds Science and Technology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
In addition to the community services, Yankuba also enjoys reading, football, and working with cameras. [/expand]
Mamma Sawaneh – Auditor General
Mamma is a young and energetic man who loves teaching, research and participating in community development initiatives. Mamma is a Ph.D. student studying Climate Change Economics at the University of Cheikh Anta Diop in Senegal. He is also a lecturer at The University of The Gambia. Mamma supports the foundation as the Auditor General of the Saruja Foundation.[expand title=”read more“] His primary research interests include productivity and efficiency studies, sustainable agriculture, energy economics, climate change, food security and development economics.
He has a formidable professional background in partnerships development, capacity-building, training & teaching. He holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Bachelor’s degree in General Agriculture (Cum laude). He has successfully designed, developed, supervised and evaluated various rural development and livelihood programs, providing strategic, technical and managerial guidance. These have positively impacted on agro-businesses and small farmers’ productivity and income.
Mamma has served as a leader in many boards and committees of a variety of professional associations at the national level. He has successfully taken part in some consulting assignments such as drafting sections of Gambia Strategic Investment Framework (GAMSIF) coordinated by Sustainable Land Management Project (SLMP) in the Gambia. He also served as a statistician providing strategic, technical and managerial guidance in The Review of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) in The Gambia coordinated by Department of Parks & Wildlife Management. Ebrima B Sawaneh, FCCA – Financial Adviser
Ebrima is a chartered accountant, banker, and writer. He currently works for a Lagos based development financial institution. He previously worked with GTBank and Ecobank Gambia Ltd. With over 13 years commercial and investment banking experience, Ebrima advises the foundation on investment and finance matters. [expand title=”read more“]
He is the Founder of Business-in-Gambia blog, an educational website where he teaches many young Africans about small business and personal finance management. He is also the president of Next Generation Foundation that provides educational support and training to young people in The Gambia.
Ebrima is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He also holds Bsc Applied Accounting (Hons) Oxford Brookes University and MBA Finance Heriot-Watt University.
Ebrima loves community services, outdoor activities, and of course farming.
